YKL-40 mAB is a primary antibody, which reacts with YKL-40. YKL-40 has no chitinase activity in human and other vertebrates; however, the basic binding site for chitin remains during evolution. It is a major secretory protein of human chondrocytes and synoviocytes, and could play a role in tissue remodeling. Elevated serum levels of YKL-40 can be used as a marker for osteoarthritis and is also associated with various cancers, including breast cancer, glioblastoma, ovarian cancer, and other metastasis cancers.
