IGFBP-4 appears to be a potent inhibitor of IGF function in several human cell lines. IGFBP-4 has been reported by several laboratories as one of the early-responsive estrogen-induced genes through studies using microarray technology. It was also reported that IGFBP-4 was up-regulated by estradiol on which ICI182780 acted as an antagonist, whereas tamoxifen and raloxifen acted as partial antagonists.
